The European Council will give Ukraine 1 billion euros.

The European Council announced today that it will give Ukraine an additional one billion euros “as a matter of urgency”.

According to foreign media, the additional financial aid now brings the total support from the EU to Ukraine since the beginning to 2.2 billion euros, with the figure expected to increase further in the “coming months”.

Zbynek Stanjura, Minister of Finance of the Czech Republic, said: “Continuing material and financial assistance is not an option, but our duty.”

“Therefore, I am very pleased that we quickly followed up on the decision to provide 1 billion euros of macro-financial assistance.”

“This will give Ukraine the necessary funds to cover urgent needs and ensure the operation of critical infrastructure.”
