The US says it will provide an additional $ 300 million in defense assistance to Ukraine.
The latest package includes laser-guided missile systems, tactical drones, Humvees, night-vision goggles, machine guns and medical supplies.
This means that the US has now donated $ 1.6 billion to Kiev since the start of Russian aggression more than five weeks ago.
In a statement, the Department of Defense said the new funding “represents the start of a contracting process to provide new opportunities for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”
Also Friday, the U.S. Department of Commerce imposed sanctions on 120 entities in the Russian and Belarusian defense, aerospace and naval sectors.
“Vladimir Putin’s decision to attack Ukraine has isolated the country and its economy from global trade, and today ‘s action extends that isolation,” said Trade Secretary Gina Raimondo.
