The German Minister of Defense visits Odesa

Germany

The German Minister of Defense, Christine Lambrecht, who last night without any warning traveled to Odesa, Ukraine, during a conversation with her Ukrainian counterpart Oleksii Reznikov, promised that they will send IRIS-T SL anti-aircraft missile systems, but not tanks.

Lambrecht in Odesa inspected the German “cheetah” anti-aircraft guns during the meeting with Reznikov, warning that the IRIS-T SLM anti-aircraft systems will also arrive soon.

“Ukraine is now facing a large number of airstrikes, so defenses, including drones, are very important,” said Lambrecht.

As for Ukraine’s request for the supply of tanks, she clearly said that Germany cannot resolve this issue without agreement with NATO partners.

“Germany has been clear from the beginning that it will not act alone in this field. Ukraine also knows that without coordination with our partners nothing can be done”, added the German Defense Minister.

Her visit to Ukraine was confirmed on Twitter by the ministry she leads, admitting that she met Reznikov in Odesa.
