Desperate Vladimir Putin has ordered Russian army recruiters in St Petersburg to send homeless people to the front line in Ukraine as they battle to boost their army.
As the war shows no signs of abating, Russia continues to lose manpower, Russian President Vladimir Putin is trying to replace dead bodies with new strength for his military.
He has already raised the minimum age for conscripts and turned to Russia’s prison population in a bid to mobilize the troops.
Now, the charity Nochlezhka has said, officials are targeting its homeless shelters in a central St. Petersburg neighborhood on the Baltic Sea.
An unnamed source from the organization told the Rotunda news service that “A recruiter was handing out leaflets explaining that men would be called up to serve. The officer on duty at the shelter did not allow the leaflets to be distributed.”
Rotunda said officials in the city administration had confirmed that a recruiter had tried to engage the city’s homeless.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has previously denied that any “mobilization activities” are taking place, but after the loss of around 70,000 troops in the conflict, Putin recently signed a decree increasing the military personnel of the Russian armed forces to more than 1.15 million. .
This came after Britain’s Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that the decree was unlikely to “make substantial progress towards increasing Russia’s combat power in Ukraine”.
They are now offering signing bonuses of around €7,000 and are relying on mercenary group Wagner to fill the big gaps in his frontline.
