Norwegians send Mistral anti-aircraft system to Ukraine.

Norwegian Interior Minister Bjorn Arild Gram has announced that the Norwegian government will send Mistral-type anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine.

“Mistral anti-aircraft systems are effective weapons, which have already been used in the navy and will play a special role in the war in Ukraine,” said Arild Gram.

According to an announcement, it is about more than 100 anti-aircraft systems. These systems have been used in the Norwegian military, and are soon expected to be replaced by another type.

Gram has stressed that despite Norway withdrawing it from use, it continues to be a very efficient anti-aircraft system.

To date, Norway has sent about 2,000 anti-tank systems (various missiles) to Ukraine. The Mistral is a French anti-aircraft system that uses ultraviolet light to locate the target.

It was introduced in 1988, while the second version was introduced in 1997 and the third in 2019.
