Swiss fans mock Italy after failing to qualify.
Fans of the Swiss national team have taken care to make fun of Italy after their recent failure to qualify for the “Qatar 2022” World Cup.
Switzerland and Italy were in the same group, C, as part of this year’s World Cup qualifiers in Qatar.
The Helvetians managed to close the Group in first place by securing direct qualification to the World Cup, while Italy remained second.
Thus, Italy had to seek qualification through “Play-Off” matches, where in the draw they did not have a difficult match on paper.
The Azzurri were drawn with Northern Macedonia for the semifinal match and in the final they would meet one between Portugal and Turkey.
However, Roberto Mancini’s team was surprised by the Balkans being defeated 1-0 and eventually eliminated for a World Cup qualifier.
This elimination has made the Swiss fans mock Italy during today (Saturday) friendly match with England, which ended 2-1 for the Three Lions.
Swiss fans had dedicated a banner to them searching on Google: “Italy in the Qatar World Cup 2022”, while the popular site suggested “Did you mean: Switzerland”.
