Greens Launch Economic Council Featuring EON And Commerzbank Representatives

The Greens’ parliamentary group has created a new economic advisory board. About 50 managers, directors and founders are expected to serve on the body, according to a Friday issue of “Handelsblatt”, which cites an accompanying list. The board will hold its inaugural meeting on March 2.

The advisory team will bring together representatives from a range of industries and company sizes. Among the most recognized members are executives who have previously voiced criticism of the Greens: E.ON chair Leonhard Birnbaum, Stefan Kapferer, head of the power‑grid operator 50 Hertz, and former federal minister Philipp Rösler’s former state secretary (FDP). Also on the panel is Dirk Jandura, president of the German Trade Association (BGA).

“During the appointments we deliberately focused on business managers” said the Greens’ economic and financial policy spokesperson Katharina Beck. “Our aim is to create a trusted space where we can regularly gain constructive, at times critical, and especially concrete and realistic perspectives”. Beck added that she was “extremely pleased with the successful diversity of the composition”.
