Cyprus’s EU Council Presidency announced on Wednesday that Hungary has lifted its long-running blockade of the planned multi-billion euro EU support package for Ukraine. Previously, the government of former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had blocked the €90 billion loan for Ukraine. However, just a week and a half after his election loss, he carried the resolution to Brussels. Furthermore, reports suggest Orbán has cleared the way for a new EU package that includes sanctions against Russia.
