Federal Police have issued warnings to potential rioters regarding expected clashes on May Day, threatening a robust response if the situation escalates.
Andreas Roßkopf, the Chairman of the Police Union (GdP) for the Federal Police, told the “Rheinische Post” that a clear and resolute line will be drawn during any unrest. He asserted that highly trained specialized units are fully available to maintain order.
Roßkopf further warned that involving oneself in violent demonstrations will lead to severe penalties. While the Federal Police currently has 500 officers deployed in Berlin today, Roßkopf noted that the Berlin Police command utilizes approximately 5,000 personnel. He emphasized that authorities are fully prepared to intervene robustly should violent disorder occur.
