Israel Jewish Leaders Targeted by Alleged Iranian Assassination Plots

Felix Klein, the German Federal Government’s Commissioner for Anti-Semitism, expressed palpable satisfaction upon reports that investigators had unearthed alleged assassination plots orchestrated by the Iranian regime targeting Josef Schuster, the President of the Central Council of Jews, and Volker Beck, the Chairman of the German-Israel Association.

Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” (Friday edition), Klein stated that these reports concretely highlight the lethal threat posed by Iranian state terrorism, which may extend onto German soil. He emphasized that this incident once again underscores how crucial the work of security agencies is in combating those who attempt to dismantle the foundations of democracy and who show no hesitation when facing seemingly anti-Semitic death plots.

Concluding his comments, Klein added that because of his personal connection to Schuster and Beck, he feels a great sense of relief regarding the success of the investigative authorities and the ongoing rule-of-law procedures against the suspected perpetrator.
