According to the police, the Walpurgis Night in Berlin proceeded with minimal disruption. Approximately 1,800 police personnel were deployed, contributing to security measures that also covered the left-wing demonstration titled “Take back the night”. The name itself is intended to evoke memories of earlier periods when the police reportedly lost control around May 1st, leading to a partial withdrawal from the Kreuzberg district, referencing the events of May 1, 1987. Nonetheless, while violence has steadily declined over recent years, resulting in only minor clashes with law enforcement this time, further left-wing demonstrations are scheduled for the afternoon and evening of May 1st, maintaining a usual pattern in the capital.
