Russia has restricted access to music app SoundCloud, citing “false information” about what Moscow calls a “special military operation” in Ukraine, reports suggest.

Moscow has been “fighting” big tech companies to control the flow of information after sending military troops to Ukraine in February this year, slowing Twitter’s services, and banning Facebook and Instagram.

Quoting the communications watchdog, Roskomnadzor: “Roskomnadzor has restricted access to SoundCloud services in connection with the posting of materials containing false information about the nature of the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine.”

They said that access to this service was blocked by order of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office, adding that the information in question related to the form and methods of special operation warfare, including “attacks on civilians, attacks on civilian infrastructure , and information regarding the number of numerous civilian casualties at the hands of Russian soldiers”
