Ukraine regains the “strategic village” from Russia

Ukraine recaptured the village of Vysokopillia in Kherson on Sunday and raised its flag over a hospital after reports of “successes” in the Russian-occupied region on March 3, a week after Russia invaded the eastern European country.

Yuriy Sobolevskyi, the first deputy chairman of the Kherson District Council, announced on Telegram that Vysokopillia was freed from Russian control.

The region is very important because it is a strategic place at the mouth of the Dnieper River outlet to the Black Sea.

The forces also raised the Ukrainian flag in Vysokopillia, located in the north of Kherson region on the administrative border with Dnipropetrovsk region.

Samuel Ramani, a fellow at the Royal United Services Institute for Defense and Security Studies, said on Twitter that the flag was raised on the roof of a hospital in the village.
