This terrible incident happened on the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Yunnan Province.
The man, identified by Chinese media as Ruan, died on the spot when he was struck by lightning while posing next to his fiancee.
Before the lightning struck, Chinese authorities had warned of severe weather.
However, the couple had decided to ignore the warning, climbing to the top of the mountain to have a photo session on the occasion of their engagement.
Lightning strikes and the loss of people’s lives are not rare in China, in 2017 nearly 4 thousand people lost their lives and were injured by this phenomenon.
