The world is expected to have 8 billion inhabitants this year.

The world’s population is expected to reach eight billion on November 15 of this year, the United Nations predicts.

“This reminds us of our shared responsibility to care for our planet. It is a moment to reflect on where we have not yet fulfilled our commitments to each other,” said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs forecast that the world’s population is growing at its slowest pace since 1950.

It should reach 8.5 billion inhabitants in 2030 and 9.7 billion in 2050.

According to the report, the population will peak at about 10.4 billion people in the 2080s and remain at that level until 2100.

More than half of the world’s population growth in the coming decades will be concentrated in eight countries, the report said.

These countries are: Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines and Tanzania.

The report also states that India will overtake China as the world’s most populous country in 2023.

India’s population currently stands at 1.412 billion, while China has 1.426 billion.
