The death of Diego Maradona: 8 people charged.
Argentine prosecutors have filed charges after 15 months of investigation into the death of Diego Armando Maradona.
The legendary footballer died on November 25, 2020 from heart failure and pulmonary edema, while prosecutors today have filed eight charges.
Neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luquem, psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov and six other medical and health workers will appear before the judge.
They are psychologist Carlos Diaz, director of Swiss medical insurance Nancy Forlini, health coordinator Mariano Perroni and nurses Ricardo Omar Almiron and Dahiana Gisela Madrid.
All of them are charged with manslaughter with possible intent, which includes a sentence of 5 to 25 years in prison.
Prosecutors allege that the material gathered in the investigation shows how the seven defendants acted negligently, thus increasing the risks to the patient until a fatal event was ascertained that could have been avoided.
The indictment consists of a total of 29 pages and in the coming days it is expected to determine the date of the trial and which court will have jurisdiction.
