The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) has opened a special reporting point for Iranian citizens living in Germany. According to the Bild newspaper, the new service is intended for Iranians who feel threatened by Iranian intelligence activities. Those who believe they are being targeted or who have observed such activities can contact the BfV either by telephone or by e‑mail, the office said in response to the Bild request.
The move follows a growing concern that Iranian state authorities are increasingly attempting to identify and surveil opposition activists abroad. Bild reports that Iranian intelligence services are now intensifying efforts to track and monitor Iranian residents in Germany. The German government labels these actions as “transnational repression” – the practice of a state’s security organs monitoring, intimidating or pressuring its political opponents outside its own borders.
