Bayern Munich defeated first‑division rivals Borussia Dortmund 3‑2 on Saturday night. Dortmund had the early advantage, taking a 1‑0 lead in the first half. In the 26th minute, after a free‑kick, Daniel Svensson’s cross found Nico Schlotterbeck inside the box. Schlotterbeck, pushing through the centre, flicked the ball to the far corner of the goal. The match so far had been full of duels, interruptions and only a few clear chances, with both defensive lines staying alert. Dortmund defended compactly, while Bayern had more possession but rarely threatened the net. The home side suffered another setback when captain Emre Can, after a tackle, complained of knee problems and was substituted due to injury.
The second half began with Bayern ramping up the pressure, eventually leveling the score. After a well‑executed attack, Joshua Kimmich met the ball in the box, and Serge Gnabry headed it into the back of Harry Kane’s net. The English striker seized the opportunity and scored in the 54th minute to bring the game to 1‑1.
Shortly after, a foul on Josip Stanisic inside the penalty area earned Bayern a spot‑kick. Kane once again stepped up and converted, despite a proper save from Dortmund’s goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, raising the score to 2‑1 in Bayern’s favour in the 70th minute.
Dortmund refused to give up. In the closing moments, Bayern briefly retreated, giving the German side space. Marcel Sabitzer capitalised on the moment, sending the ball from midfield to Daniel Svensson, who curled a goal to level the match at 2‑2 in the 83rd minute.
The game remained open, and Bayern nearly retook the lead. A combination from Michael Olise and Luis Diaz almost finished with the ball at the near post, but Diaz missed by just a few centimetres. Kimmich then produced the decisive answer. A right‑wing cross slipped past the German defence. The ball cleared the defence’s attempted clear and fell directly into Kimmich’s feet, who finished efficiently to secure Bayern’s third point at the 87th minute.
With the win, Bayern have extended their advantage to eleven points and continue their march towards the championship.
