A US-led military operation has targeted three nuclear facilities in Iran, according to a statement from the White House. The facilities in question are Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan, the US government announced through various channels.
US President Donald Trump described the operation as “successful” and reported that all aircraft are now outside of Iran’s airspace. Speaking on Saturday evening, US Eastern Time, Trump stated that a full bomb load was dropped on Fordo and all aircraft are safely en route back home. He extended his congratulations to the “outstanding American warriors, there is no other army in the world that could have done this.” The President added that the “time for peace” has now arrived.
According to US media reports, B-2 bombers were also involved in the operation, capable of carrying bunker-busting bombs that can penetrate deep into the ground before detonation. The Fordo nuclear facility, which Trump highlighted, is located approximately 95 kilometers southwest of Tehran, nestled in a mountain and featuring a tunnel system that reaches 60 to 90 meters beneath the surface.
