Federal Ministers for Economic Affairs Katherina Reiche (CDU) and Research Dorothee Bär (CSU) have firmly rejected any speculation regarding a minority government. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” Bär dismissed the notion as “nonsense” adding that no one wants a minority administration. Reiche echoed this sentiment, arguing that the focus should stop being placed on demonizing compromise and assigning fault or victory. She stressed that the priority must be for all parties to work together in a single, unified direction.
Bär used the opportunity to defend the stability of the CDU/CSU “black-red” coalition. She affirmed their commitment, stating, “We were elected for four years, and we will shape these four years together”. Both she and Reiche-and by extension, the entire federal government-announced that they possess clear plans for the entire legislative period, ready to be implemented step by step. Reiche concluded by making a strong declaration of solidarity: “And quite frankly, when I sat at the cabinet table recently, I thought to myself: I would definitely not want to forgo any of my colleagues in the cabinet. This team stands united”.
