The somber message was delivered at the end of a journey on Thursday from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to London’s Heathrow Airport.
“Elizabeth, the queen, passed away today surrounded by her family,” the pilot is heard announcing.
“I thought I should at least break the news to you before you get to the terminal,” he continued as a crew member wiped his eyes with a tissue.
“Many will be very sad about this,” said the pilot while the camera also captured the reactions of other people.
Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Newly ascended King Charles III mourned the nation on Friday, a day after his “beloved mother” died after more than seven decades on the throne.
