Russian forces have apparently made further territorial gains in eastern Ukraine. In the Donetsk Oblast, Russian troops have reportedly made progress, according to the British Military Intelligence’s daily situation report on Sunday.
Russian forces are currently about three kilometers from the southern outskirts of Pokrovsk, a key logistical hub, and have reportedly captured the village of Shevchenko, which lies at the intersection of two roads leading to Pokrovsk. Russia is likely to continue advancing towards Pokrovsk and simultaneously push its advance south of the city towards the west, the British say.
Russian forces have also likely crossed the north-eastern logistics route from Velyka Novosilka, the T-05-18, according to the report from London. In early December, Ukrainian forces reportedly regained control of the village of Novy Komar. They are likely to maintain a remaining supply route to Velyka Novosilka from the north, the British Military Intelligence says.
