Darmstadt 98 won 5-1 against 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the 16th matchday of the 2. Bundesliga.
The Lilies took the initiative from the start and created promising opportunities. In the 21st minute, Hornby headed the ball in from a Nürnberger free kick, and in the 33rd minute, Corredor scored a goal after a pass from Lopez. In the 90th minute of the first half, the 24-year-old set up Hornby for the third goal, and the latter scored without facing any opposition, putting the home team ahead at the break.
In the second half, the visitors showed more engagement, but it was Darmstadt who capitalized on a mistake by Krahl in the 62nd minute, with Marseiler scoring the fourth goal. Hornby sealed the win with the fifth goal in the 73rd minute, after a pass from Müller.
Kaiserslautern tried to make the score look more respectable in the 84th minute, with Hanslik scoring a beautiful goal off a Robinson pass, but Corredor restored the three-goal lead in the 88th minute with a solo effort, finishing with a shot from the outside of his right foot.
Darmstadt remains in tenth place, but is now just two points behind the promotion spots, while Kaiserslautern drops to fourth place.
