Paris Archbishop Laurent Ulrich officially reopened the world-famous Notre-Dame Cathedral. On Saturday evening, numerous prominent figures, including French President Emmanuel Macron and German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, attended the event by invitation of Macron.
The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selenskyj, the newly elected US President Donald Trump, and many other politicians, royals, or famous individuals found their way to Paris.
Notre-Dame Cathedral was severely damaged by a devastating fire on April 15, 2019, with the roof, spire, and parts of the upper vault succumbing to the flames. Despite the damage, with the help of international donations, over 800 million Euros were collected for the rebuilding of the cathedral.
Macron had announced shortly after the disaster that he would rebuild the cathedral within just five years and was now able to hold true to this promise.
