Freiburg Coach Christian Streich To Become ZDF TV Expert

Former SC Freiburg coach Christian Streich is set to join the ZDF public broadcaster as a football expert. The news was released on Tuesday, confirming that Streich will make his debut role during the upcoming World Cup in North America.

Significantly, his initial appearance will coincide with his 61st birthday, on June 11th, covering the opening match between Mexico and South Africa. His appearances are scheduled to continue with coverage of the England vs. Croatia live broadcast on June 17th, and another significant slot is planned for June 20th to cover the second group stage match featuring the German national team against Ivory Coast.

Speaking about his new role, Streich stated that his goal is to interpret the tactical strategies of the various teams in a way that is easily understandable and traceable for the viewers. ZDF Sports Editor Yorck Polus praised Streich, describing him as a “special type of coach known for his clear words”.

Streich, who is currently 60 years old, previously coached SC Freiburg from 2012 until 2024, making him one of the longest-serving coaches in the Bundesliga era.
