During a top meeting of the CDU, CSU, and SPD, members of the Union coalition are demanding a concrete implementation schedule for the planned tax reform. The ultimate goal is ensuring that the promised tax reliefs can take effect on January 1, 2027.
Steffen Bilger, the parliamentary head of the Union parliamentary group in the Bundestag, stated to the Tagesspiegel that the Coalition Committee provides an excellent opportunity to draft a detailed roadmap for targeted tax reductions, particularly benefiting small and medium-sized incomes. He noted that the Union and the SPD are fundamentally agreed on easing income tax burdens starting January 1, 2027, and this commitment can now be built upon.
Bilger emphasized that all future decisions made by the coalition must be evaluated based on their ability to stimulate the economy and get it moving again.
