Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated that Sweden’s new government is more determined to address Ankara’s security concerns in exchange for the Turkish side ratifying Stockholm’s NATO membership, but called for “concrete steps.”
Cavusoglu met his counterparts from Sweden and Finland on Tuesday on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Bucharest.
“The statements coming from Sweden are good, the determination is good, but we need to see concrete steps. I told them that we have not seen concrete steps on these issues”, including the extradition of criminals and the freezing of assets of “terrorists”, he emphasized.
In May, Finland and Sweden decided to join NATO after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine.
