Fernandes Criticizes Digital Violence Bill as Inadequate Law Reform Needed

Moderator and actress Collien Fernandes has criticized Justice Minister Stefanie Hubig’s draft law concerning digital violence, labeling it as insufficient. Speaking to the “Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung”, Fernandes claimed that her ex-husband, Christian Ulmen, had “virtually raped” her. Based on these allegations, she argued that a maximum sentence of two years is “far too short” stating that if “psychoterror” continues over decades, the current penalty is “a joke” and that greater leeway must be provided.

The draft law, which Hubig introduced in mid-April, aims to improve criminal protection against digital violence. According to the proposed legislation, the unauthorized creation and distribution of nude recordings, including deepfakes, would be punishable by up to two years in prison.
