Dynamo Dresden’s footballer and club icon, Stefan Kutschke, has announced that he will retire from professional play at the end of the current season, meaning he will depart the club in the summer of 2026.
Born in Dresden, Kutschke’s professional journey took him through the youth ranks and the SV Babelsberg 03 before moving to RB Leipzig, where he gained entry into the Bundesliga. His debut in the top German league occurred on August 17, 2013, while playing for VfL Wolfsburg against FC Schalke 04, where he immediately scored his first goal in the Bundesliga. Throughout his career, he has accumulated appearances across the league tiers, totaling 27 Bundesliga games, 192 third league matches, and 144 second league games.
Kutschke has returned to Dynamo Dresden on two occasions. After a loan spell during the 2015/16 season and time spent at FC Ingolstadt, he officially joined the club in 2022. Last season, he captained the squad, leading them to promotion to the 2. Bundesliga. During his time at Dynamo, he participated in 187 official matches and scored 53 goals. Despite retiring from playing, Kutschke will remain associated with the club, where he has secured a position in a trainee program within the sport’s operational sector.
