The Stuttgart Police have arrested an 84-year-old man who is accused of hundreds of cases of sexual abuse of children. This information was released on Thursday by the Stuttgart Public Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the authorities, the man allegedly forced children into sexual acts over several years. The alleged crimes took place in multiple settings, including the family environment and a swimming pool. The investigation gained momentum after the police issued a witness call in February, which led to further tips that placed the man under intense scrutiny from investigators.

The German citizen was taken into custody by officers on Tuesday. Later that same day, he appeared before a detaining judge, who subsequently issued a detention order. The suspect has since been committed to a correctional facility.
