DGB Demands Oil Summit Merz To Tackle Energy Price Concerns

The German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) is concerned that the oil and fossil fuel corporations will not pass on the entirety of the planned energy tax reduction to consumers. Because of this, the DGB is calling for a summit on oil prices involving Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU). According to DGB board member Stefan Körzell, Merz should invite the top executives of the oil giants to the Chancellery. Körzell told the newspaper “Bild” (Wednesday edition) that, “The gas-pump discount must reach both private drivers and businesses in full. The Federal Chancellor must make it unambiguously clear to the fossil fuel corporations: No more tricks”. He stressed the need to ensure that the relief money actually reaches motorists.
