Diesel Prices Drop Notably in Germany After Iran Truce Easing Fuel Costs

A week after the fighting subsided in the Iran conflict, fuel prices in Germany saw noticeable decreases for the first time since the start of the conflict. According to an ADAC spokesperson speaking to the dts news agency on Wednesday, the average price for a liter of diesel nationwide reached €2.286 on Tuesday. This figure marks a drop of €0.161 compared to the previous week. The price for Super E10 also saw a reduction of €0.081, settling at an average of €2.107 per liter. Consequently, prices in both categories are now roughly consistent with those seen two weeks prior, although they remain significantly below pre-crisis levels. The market is keenly awaiting how the decisions made by the coalition committee over the weekend will affect pricing. The Union and SPD are planning an “immediate energy package” that includes proposals to lower the energy tax on both diesel and gasoline by approximately €0.17 cent brute per liter for two months. If the legislative process proceeds as planned, this change could take effect by May 1st.
