Kurdish Leader Calls for International Flight Ban Over Iran Amid Planned Ground Troop Deployment

A prominent spokesman for the Iranian‑Kurdish opposition has linked the potential deployment of ground troops in Iran to the establishment of an international no‑fly zone. Reza Kaabi, secretary‑general of Komala-the “Laborers of Kurdistan” in the world-asserted that such a measure is necessary to prevent the Islamic Republic from launching air attacks and exploiting its military superiority. “The demand is clear” he said. “We expect it to be carried out”.

Kaabi said that a ground offensive would depend on several factors. “I believe we are getting close to those conditions” he explained. He cited the readiness of the Peshmerga, political unity, a prepared population, and international support as decisive elements. He also pointed out that future developments would hinge on President Trump’s policy and on the Kurds themselves.

According to Kaabi, Komala has around 1,000 ready fighters in three camps in northern Iraq. The party is part of a newly formed alliance of Iranian‑Kurdish opposition groups that calls for the overthrow of the Islamic Republic and the creation of a “democratic, secular, and federal Iran”.
