German Federal Minister of Economy Katharina Reiche (CDU) is visibly deepening Germany’s ties to Israel. In a video conference with Israeli counterpart Nir Barkat, she agreed on an even closer partnership. According to “Welt am Sonntag”, the focus will include a stronger collaboration in the security and defence industry.
The ministry stated that economic cooperation should also be expanded through geostrategic projects, notably the India‑Middle‑East‑Europe Economic Corridor. Both countries plan to set up a regular Germany‑Israel economic forum. The ministry emphasized that in difficult times it is crucial for friends to stand together and further strengthen their collaboration.
