In 2025, Germany’s services sector generated a real sales increase of 2.1 % and a nominal rise of 3.9 % compared with 2024, according to preliminary data released by Destatis on Thursday. During the first half of the year, real revenue grew 2.4 % year‑on‑year, while the second half saw a 1.9 % uptick.
The sector with the strongest performance was information and communication, which added 4.5 % in real terms, followed by land and housing at 2.5 %. Freelance, scientific, and technical services grew 2.2 %, and transport and warehousing rose 1.3 %. Other economic services experienced a modest 0.7 % increase.
In December 2025, calendar‑ and seasonally adjusted real sales were 0.8 % lower than in November, and unadjusted sales also fell 0.8 %. Compared with December 2024, the adjusted real sales declined 1.3 %, whereas nominal sales had actually risen 0.2 %.
