Prosor Says No Plan Exists for Iran After Potential Regime Change

Israel’s ambassador, Ron Prosor, says there is no ready plan for the period after a potential overthrow of the Iranian regime.

During the Berlin Playbook podcast for POLITICO, he explained that “we first have to consider that we don’t actually have a proper answer”. The key point he made was that “the most important thing is for that regime to cease to exist”.

Israel’s objective is to cripple the regime’s capabilities. “The effort is really about weakening them” Prosor told the podcast, referring to the Revolutionary Guard. He added that meaningful change can only come from within, noting that the people “have had enough and want freedom”.

On Germany’s role, Prosor highlighted the significance of Germany’s designation of the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization. “That Germany labels the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist state is unbelievably important” he said.
