German Gas Station Association Warns of Long Queues Amid Escalating Iran Conflict

The gas‑station trade association is bracing for queues at pumps over the coming days and weeks because of the Iran war. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post”, spokesperson Herbert Rabl said that many consumers are already filling up their cars – and adding an extra reserve canister. “We’re already seeing the first lines at stations” he added.

Rabl warned that prices for gasoline and diesel are set to climb further, prompting more customers to try to lock in any current price advantage. He noted that many companies have already begun to adjust their pricing, even though the effect hasn’t yet rippled through the supply chain. “The greater the anxiety about what’s being produced downstream in the Persian Gulf, the higher the prices at the pumps will rise” he explained.

At the moment he sees no immediate shortage. However, Rabl pointed out that the stations themselves won’t profit from the price hikes. “We have our contracts and we receive only one or two cents per litre, depending on the agreement” he said.
