During the Bundestag debate on the agenda item “Combatting Sexualised Abuse” left‑wing MP Kathrin Gebel delivered a highly emotional speech at the speaker’s podium on Friday. Speaking about the Epstein files, she interrupted with an abrupt, personal account: “I was 17, he was 34. He invited me under the pretext of watching a movie with classmates in his apartment. He had previously worked at my school. It was late, I was alone, and I didn’t know how I would get home. When I arrived, the classmates were gone”. Her voice faltered, tears welled up, and she cried before regaining composure to continue discussing the broader Epstein scandal.
Afterwards, Vice‑president Omid Nouripour of the Greens thanked everyone who had made the emotionally charged address possible: “I want to thank those who helped ensure that such a speech could be given here”. The agenda item was added at the request of the Green faction, titled “No Turning a Blind Eye at the Cost of Victims – Uncovering and Fighting Violence Against Women, Sexual Abuse, and Networks of Power Abuse”.
