German Government Hails Munich Security Conference as Central Hub of Transatlantic Debate

The German government concluded positively after the Munich Security Conference.

Vice Minister of State Sebastian Hille told the dts news agency in Berlin that the MSC once again proved to be a central hub for trans‑Atlantic dialogue. “It is reassuring for Germany that such a meeting continues to be hosted in Munich” he said.

The government was satisfied with the overall conduct of the conference, the discussions, and the outcomes. “Our priorities were European defence capability and sovereignty, the alignment of trans‑Atlantic relations, the shaping of global partnerships, and, of course, continued support for Ukraine” Hille added.

Concerning the large demonstration against the Iranian regime that occurred on the sidelines of the conference, Hille acknowledged that it was “clearly observed”. “It is a strong signal from both the Iranian population and the diaspora who took part” he remarked, though he could not comment on any direct effect on the MSC.
