The United Nations expressed deep alarm over the escalating attacks in Sudan. Airstrikes threaten civilians and directly target humanitarian and public infrastructure, said Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for UN Secretary‑General António Guterres.
On Wednesday morning, a drone strike hit a mosque in Al‑Rahad, a town in North‑Kordofan. According to the Sudan Doctors Network, two children were killed and 13 others injured. The night before, a drone strike struck a primary school in Dilling, South‑Kordofan. Additionally, rockets damaged a World Food Programme warehouse in Kadugli, the capital of South‑Kordofan.
Dujarric criticized the attacks for endangering civilians, including humanitarian workers. He stressed that civilians and civilian infrastructure-such as schools, places of worship and humanitarian facilities-must be protected in accordance with humanitarian law. All parties must ensure that aid access is quick, safe, unhindered and permanent, so that lifesaving assistance reaches people in need throughout Sudan.
