Ukraine Groups Reject Proposed Peace Plan

The Alliance of Ukrainian Organizations in Germany has issued a sharp rebuke of a recently proposed 28-point plan aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, arguing it fails to offer a pathway to a just and lasting peace. In a statement released to the German press network (Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland), board member Nataliya Pryhornytska accused the plan of disregarding fundamental tenets of international law and, critically, aligning with key demands emanating from the Kremlin.

Pryhornytska voiced deep concern that the suggested measures effectively reward Russia’s aggression, rather than deterring it, potentially solidifying a dangerous precedent where coercion and military force dictate political outcomes. She warned that such an approach carries significant global implications, signaling the acceptance of armed conflict as a legitimate tool for territorial alteration, a prospect she deems profoundly destabilizing.

The Alliance emphasized the imperative of accountability for the extensive human rights violations and war crimes documented in Russian-occupied territories. Pryhornytska stressed that genuine and sustainable peace for the affected populations can only be achieved through de-occupation and thorough investigations revealing the truth behind the atrocities committed, ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.

The organization’s criticism isn’t simply a rejection of the plan’s specifics; it represents a broader critique of approaches that prioritize expediency over principles. They argue that the proposal ultimately penalizes the victim of aggression while sanctioning the aggressor and that a just resolution hinges on adherence to established international legal frameworks, rather than compromising core values in the pursuit of a premature and potentially damaging ceasefire. The Alliance concluded that any deviation from these principles constitutes a capitulation to violence and a betrayal of both Ukraine’s future and the stability of a unified Europe.
