Stocks Surge Nasdaq Hits Record

US equity markets saw gains on Monday, closing with a mixed performance influenced by policy announcements and shifting investor sentiment. The Dow Jones Industrial Average reached 46,381 points by the close of trading in New York, representing a 0.1% increase from the previous day’s level.

Earlier in the session, the broader S&P 500 index climbed to approximately 6,695 points, posting a gain of 0.4%. The Nasdaq 100 index reached roughly 24,760 points, showing a 0.6% increase at that point. Both indices achieved record highs during Monday’s trading.

Optimism surrounding potential future interest rate reductions, following recent actions by the Federal Reserve, appeared to fuel a buying spree among investors. However, this positive momentum was tempered by uncertainties arising from an announcement by US President Donald Trump regarding significant increases in fees for specific work visas.

The euro strengthened against the US dollar, trading at $1.1800, making the dollar worth €0.8475.

Gold prices experienced a notable increase, reaching $3,747 per fine ounce (+1.7%), equivalent to €102.08 per gram.

Conversely, the price of crude oil saw a slight decline. Brent North Sea crude was trading at $66.57 per barrel as of late Monday evening (German time), down 11 cents or 0.2% compared to the previous day’s closing price.
