German districts are experiencing a noticeable easing of pressure due to a decline in migration levels, according to Achim Brötel, President of the German Association of Districts.
Speaking to the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland, Brötel stated that the shift in migration patterns is having a discernible effect. He expressed gratitude to the federal government for the positive development, particularly regarding the relief in accommodating migrants as arrival numbers decrease.
While acknowledging the significant influx of people in recent years and the ongoing effort by districts to manage the resulting challenges, Brötel emphasized the need for substantial financial support from the federal government. He specifically called for assistance covering accommodation costs for refugees, estimating an annual expenditure of 3.4 billion euros.
