Germany’s annual consumer price increase accelerated again in August 2025, according to preliminary figures released Friday by the Federal Statistical Office.
The inflation rate is projected to reach 2.2 percent, up from 2.0 percent the previous month. Month-on-month, consumer prices are estimated to have risen by 0.1 percent in the eighth month of the year.
Notably, the core inflation rate – which excludes volatile food and energy prices – is provisionally estimated to remain at 2.7 percent. This figure continues to significantly outperform the overall index.
Energy prices were again lower year-on-year in August, falling by 2.4 percent. Food prices saw an annual increase of 2.5 percent, while service prices increased by 3.1 percent.
