Production at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Grünheide, Germany was temporarily disrupted Monday following a fire incident within a battery production building. All personnel working in the affected area were evacuated as a precautionary measure, according to reports.
Authorities in the Oder-Spree district confirmed receiving an initial report detailing the event, which occurred around 3:00 PM local time. The incident involved the ignition of materials during the manufacturing of battery packs. Preliminary investigations suggest several battery cells fell from a conveyor belt on the first floor, descending through a shaft to the ground floor, prior to the fire.
Officials have stated that there were no immediate reports of personal injury or environmental damage resulting from the incident. Tesla implemented all necessary safety protocols and is currently assessing the cause of the fire. Local administrative authorities have indicated they await the findings of the comprehensive root cause analysis. Tesla has not yet issued a formal statement addressing queries regarding the event.
