German Minister Condemns Putin’s Violent Rhetoric During Ukraine Attacks

Germany’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has strongly condemned the ongoing attacks in Ukraine, noting they continued even during recent summit talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska. In a statement to Bild, Wadephul asserted that these attacks, conducted with continued missile strikes on Ukrainian cities, demonstrate a reliance on violence as a means of communication.

Regarding a potential peaceful resolution to the conflict, Wadephul outlined clear preconditions. He emphasized that any lasting peace must be predicated on the inviolability of borders and backed by robust security guarantees for Ukraine, a commitment he stated European nations, in conjunction with the United States, are prepared to make.

However, Wadephul cautioned against a peace achieved at any cost. He affirmed that as long as Russian bombs continue to fall within Europe, pressure on Russia will be maintained. He stressed the necessity for increased focus on European security and the deterrence of further aggression, underscoring that Russia’s threat to European peace requires a stronger collective response.
