Secret Service Sells Out with Merchandise

Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service Launches Online Shop for Merchandise

The German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) has opened an online shop, offering a range of merchandise products bearing the agency’s logo and name. According to a BND spokesperson, Martin Heinemann, the shop will initially feature around 20 products and will be operated by private companies, with the BND holding a six-year license agreement for the use of its logo and name, which was put out to tender across Europe.

In addition to the online shop, a vending machine has been installed at the BND Visitor Centre in central Berlin, offering a range of items, including pens for €4.95 and tennis socks with the BND’s logo and script for €14.90. However, the shop does not currently offer hats and sunglasses, as reported by Bild.

The BND’s aim in launching the online shop is to specifically target young people and increase the agency’s visibility, said Heinemann. “We want to reach young people with the BND shop and boost our recognition, as the BND is an exciting employer and is always on the lookout for new talent” he added.
