Germany Offers Assistance to Citizens Leaving Israel Amid Tensions

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has assured all German citizens in Israel that the government will facilitate their return to the country if they decide to leave due to the ongoing conflict with Iran. In an interview with the German television channel “Welt”, Wadephul emphasized that the situation in the region is dangerous, but acknowledged that some individuals may choose to stay in Israel, which has a well-conceived protection plan in place.

The minister emphasized that the decision to leave or stay ultimately rests with each individual, but for those who do decide to depart, the German government is willing to provide assistance. This cooperation with Jordan, where a first flight has been well-received, aims to ensure a safe and efficient return for German citizens.

Wadephul also addressed reports of discontent among German citizens in Israel, who have been struggling with the difficulties of traveling to Amman on their own and the 50-euro administrative fee. The minister acknowledged that the current situation is unforeseen and not easily resolvable, but assured that the German government is doing its part to support its citizens, who had been aware of the region’s precarious situation for some time.
