Financial Markets Post Slight Gains in Trading
The US stock markets ended the day with a slight uptick, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average closing at 42,968 points, a 0.2 percent increase from the previous trading day. The Nasdaq 100 also saw a small gain, rising 0.2 percent to 21,913 points, while the broader S&P 500 index closed at 6,045 points, a 0.4 percent increase.
The release of the US producer price index for May, which showed a modest increase, provided some relief and maintained the low inflation pressure in the United States. The upcoming Federal Reserve decision on interest rates has garnered significant attention, with most experts predicting a hold on the benchmark rate.
Meanwhile, the euro was stronger against the US dollar, with one euro equivalent to 1.1578 US dollars and one US dollar to 0.8637 euros.
The gold price saw a gain, with one ounce selling for 3,389 US dollars, a 0.9 percent increase, which translates to a price of 94.10 euros per gram.
Oil prices, however, declined, with a barrel of Brent crude selling for 69.54 US dollars at 22:00 Central European Time, a 0.3 percent decrease from the previous day’s close.
