German authorities, in a large-scale international operation, have joined forces with partners from several countries to deal a blow against cybercriminals once again.
In a joint statement, the Frankfurt State Prosecutor’s Office and the Federal Criminal Police Office announced on Friday that arrest warrants have been issued for 20 suspected masterminds behind the so-called Underground Economy. The majority of the accused are Russian nationals.
As part of the ‘Endgame 2.0’ operation, around 300 servers were seized worldwide, with approximately 50 in Germany. Additionally, 650 domains were shut down and cryptocurrencies worth €3.5 million were secured. The measures targeted several malware variants, which were used as entry points for further cyber attacks.
This action is part of an ongoing international cooperation against cybercrime, which has been underway since 2022. Further details on the recent operation are expected to follow. Eighteen of the suspected perpetrators are also being publicly sought.
